AUSTRALIAN READERS PLEASE NOTE: The wrap up you see now is CURRENT for MELBOURNE.  NSW is 3 days ahead of us, Perth in Western Australia is about 18 months behind, regional Western Australia is ahead by 2 days.  South Australia- previously behind, then 3 weeks ahead are now about 3 days ahead! (good grief) Other towns and regions are all over the place. This gives us a jolly old time - the wrap ups are either old news, last week's news or "Spoilers" depending where you are! Whatever your situation, please sit back and enjoy!

A Better Word and Resume

Week 5: Aug 28-Sep 1 - Day 5

Episodes screened March 97 in the U.S.

Day 5 Week 5 August 2000

Friends

Looney/Lucid Laura has something to report to Marlena.  At Kristen's baby shower, Jennifer gave Kristen a toy fire engine.  The red light sent signals to Laura.  She thinks she may have been tortured with something with a red light when she was missing before Christmas.  And although she can't prove it, she convinced Kristen has had something to do with her disappearance.

Threats

J.L. King, Salem drug lord, still appears to be taking an unhealthy interest in the love life of Bozo Brady.

Where's Billieboob? he asks pointing a gun at Bozo's temple.  She's gone out of town man, shrugs Bozo.  We had a fight.  She wants to get married, and so do I, but I can't afford a ring on a cop's salary.  That's why I'm doing business with you, to get me the money I need to keep Billieboob in the manner she wants to become accustomed to.

Yeah? snorts J.L. clearly disbelieving.

If that's the case, why is your former wife Hope, snooping around the Snake Pit downstairs?  Apparently, she's asked to see me. Look at her on our closed circuit TV.  She seems quite smug with her accomplishment.

Wriggling uncomfortably, Bozo squirms.  I have no idea, she's nothing to me, I have no idea why she's here, he offers.

Mmm, considers J.L.  Fine.  Well, perhaps we'll both find out, when Hope spends her last hour on earth with me upstairs.

Witness Protection

As the witness protection program gathers speed, Billieboob is whisked away to a secret location.  I hope this doesn't last for too long, she groans.  How awful if I was locked away from my job, my friends and my family for weeks.

With a drug bust case this size, the driver tells her, it's more likely to be months, than weeks.

Oh no, groans Billieboob regretting her decision.

Face Off

As Kristen appears with Vivian in tow, they overhear Laura's discussion with Marlena.  Laura was just telling me that she is starting to remember her lost time, Marlena snaps eyeing Kristen coolly.  Yes, Laura agrees.  It's just a matter of time before I remember everything.  And I'm sure you'll be part of it Kristen.

Oh dear, Kristen smiles feigning concern as Vivian observes intrigued.  You do seem so confused Laura.  Have you been taking your medication?  Well no, not today yet, admits Laura.  Nurse Lynn was asleep before I left for work.  But I've left a message on her machine.

As Kristen places a phone call to Lynn in the hallway, Vivian looks on admiringly.  You do seem to have everything well under control, she remarks as Kristen snaps her phone shut.  I do don't I? agrees Kristen.

Lucas' Plan

Lucas has a plan.  Knowing that Ausdumb and Carrie are likely to be in the apartment, he's hoping to cause a major rift in relationships by bringing Scami from her hospital bed to visit the apartment.

Do you remember anything yet? he asks as she looks blankly around the hallway.  No, Scami says sadly.  I don't remember anything of this apartment building.

As Lucas slips the key in the lock, beyond the bathroom door, Carrie and Ausdumb are obliviously canoodling in a candlelit room complete with bubble bath

Looking around, Scami is shocked at the apartment's dishevelled appearance, but understands that Kate has provided decoration as a surprise.

Hearing voices, Ausdumb appears from the bathroom, shocked to see Scami.

What are you doing here? he asks glaring at Lucas.

Meanwhile, Carrie continues to bob amongst the soap suds, blissfully ignorant of Scami being in the next room.

Nurse Lynn Summoned

Kristen's angry.  You must keep those pills up to Laura on time all the time, she instructs Nurse Lynn, who looks chastened.  I know, I had a big night out last night, she offers by way of explanation, as Vivian looks on enthralled.

What's that!

Alerted to sounds outside the bathroom, Carrie reaches for her robe as Lucas raps at the door.  Help me escape! she pleads as Ausdumb wheels Scami into Will's room.

Successfully outside, Carrie is appalled.

All Purpose Mike Horton said that any trauma could send Scami's recovery backwards! she moans.  What if she had found us!  Ausdumb's hardly coherent.  I could punch you right in the mouth for pulling this stunt, he fumes as Lucas looks stricken.

Discovery

Left alone to her own devices, Scami discovers a lipstick.  That's not the colour I wear, she remarks before looking down.  Bubbles on the carpet, and it's wet.  Mystified, Scami talks to herself.  I wonder if I've left any makeup here, she whispers wheeling herself into the bedroom.

Looking down, she sees a silky negligee.  Oh no! she weeps.  Is Ausdumb having an affair?

What happens next? Tune in next week for Days DownUnder...

Quizlet results: Our quizlet results were somewhat inconclusive to last week's question as follows:  This week, Days DownUnder has tried a different format - one day per page. We'd like your views.

32%   It was slower, but I liked one page
44%   It's quicker with a page a day - Do that
24%   I don't care one way or another...

Although overall 44% liked the new format, but if you added the people who preferred the one page format with the people who didn't care, 56% percent of people either wanted the one page, or had no interest one way or another. On the other hand, I received some compelling emails from those at work and on slow connections that were delighted with the multi-page to a week format.  Therefore, I've decided to keep the multi-page for a while, but if I'm in a hurry or too tired and have to get Days DownUnder out quickly, I'll revert to the old one page format.  Thanks for your feedback!
