Stop Press: Just received this interesting note from Jodi in regional Western Australia.  Can you imagine the hullabaloo this network's actions must have caused? Read below:

I just wanted to let you know that in Western Australia, we are actually a couple of days ahead of you! Regional WA that is, Perth is behind ages. A few years back WIN or GWN as days used to appear on, skipped a couple of years overnight. Caused a huge ruckus amongst the older generation who had been watching for years. In the end you could ring the station and they would mail out a booklet filling you in on what you had missed!   Cheers Jodi

Please note: Australian spelling applies in Days DownUnder. Therefore spelling of words such as realise (realize), colour (color), recognise (recognize), defence (defense) and so on,
are not typing or
spelling errors as we
adopt European/English spelling in Australia.

AUSTRALIAN READERS PLEASE NOTE: The wrap up you see now is CURRENT for MELBOURNE.  NSW is 3 days ahead of us, Perth in Western Australia is about 18 months behind, regional Western Australia is ahead by 2 days.  South Australia- previously behind, then 3 weeks ahead are now about 3 days ahead! (good grief) Other towns and regions are all over the place. This gives us a jolly old time - the wrap ups are either old news, last week's news or "Spoilers" depending where you are! Whatever your situation, please sit back and enjoy!

The shock

As Loony Laura staggers into the hallway, her lack of sleep propelling her towards Nurse Lynn's stash of sleepy drugs, she turns the corner to see Stefano instructing Nurse Lynn.

Stefano! Laura whispers.  You're alive!  As Stefano coolly returns her gaze, Loony Laura is overcome with pain and confusion as her memory fights to be uncovered through the layers of laser scarred brain matter.  Taking the easy option, Loony Laura prefers to faint dead away, crumpling softly and prettily at Stefano's leather clad tooties as Nurse Lynn turns to Stefano for future direction.

Oh no!

Detective Bo "Clueless" Brady is having a run of inexplicable bad luck.  First losing Fancy Face 1 Hope - the formerly voluptuous now turning rapidly scrawny former wife, Bo has embarked upon a rapid descent to misery, losing Fancy Face 2 (the boat) and his Detective's job - where, under the affluence of incohol he found himself making firm fistycuff contact with the hapless Amiable Abe, who despite hitting the floor hard and rubbing his chin, still managed to look congenial. It's not hard to imagine why Bo's upset.  How many detectives get the time needed to lament their often badly affected love lives, and work on their personal crusade, whilst drawing a full time salary?  But Bo's bad luck hasn't given out just yet.  There's just one more thing.

The Fancy Face 2 is now on fire, and though he lost the boat in a pool game, he's still attached to his former home and mighty miserable.

As we peer into the fog and smoke covered pier, it seems Billieboob has joined Bo in lamenting the life and times of the Fancy Face.  Don't know what caused it, remarks the insightful firefighter.  But, I'll lay odds the cause is suspicious.

Jack & Jennifer

For an individual spending his last night a free man thanks to the ruling by a Stefano-bribed judge, Jack appears calm and happy.  As Jennifer agrees that Jack is now a new man, they are both startled to hear Abby cry out.  Grandma! Grandma! her tiny voice pipes.

Yes, Abby has stumbled over Loony Laura, still collapsed into the hallway, while Stefano cleverly hides around a corner.  Let's get her into her room! suggests Jack as Jennifer calms Abby.

I'll call Dr All Purpose Mike Horton, screams Jack sounding unnecessarily desperate, but his plans are stymied when All Purpose Mike is saving the life of a victim suffering a rare form of teetsy fly nip.

I'll call Marlena instead! Jack announces.  Marlena's mortified.  I'm on my way! she announces.

As Marlena arrives at the house, Loony Laura regains consciousness.  Stefano, was here! she gasps and howls as the family turns six shades of embarrassment.

Now Laura, that can't be, Marlena states logically.  Stefano is dead.

No! No! He was here, in the house! Loony Laura roars.  He was talking to Nurse Lynn.

Eyes opening wide, Nurse Lynn smiles empathically.  Laura I'm sorry, but I was in my room listening to my music, she says sincerely thus scoring her place on the payroll for another week.

Don't any of you believe me? howls Laura as all present take a great interest in their shoes.

Introducing J.L.King

Commander Amiable Abe is having a pleasant chat with a man we find out is J.L. King.  King, a man of dubious reputation in Abe's eyes announces that J.L.King Engineering Inc. is a legal and respected business.  But Amiable Abe's eyes squint.  I know you're a big boy in the drug cartels, Abe challenges him as J.L. picks unconcerned at his nails, smiles and leaves passing Bo who has overheard the conversation from outside.

Bo's come to throw himself at Abe's tootsies.  I'm sorry about the way my fist inadvertently and mistakenly made contact with your jaw man, he tells his Commanding officer who looks thoughtful.

I'm desperate man, Bo tells his boss.  I've lost my wife, my boat and my job.  I can never provide the things my wife needs if I don't have the money.  Please take me back.

Considering, Abe squints at his former detective.  I'll help you out Bo, he decides as Bo falls to lick his boots.  Not so quick there Bo - no detective duties for you.  You're a cop on the beat.

Bo stops licking.  But ABE, he protests.  A beat cop's salary is nothing.  I need a job like I had where I can work as little as possible and steal the glory for cases that personally attract me.

That's my offer Bo, Abe announces. Take it or leave it.

Down on the pier

Down at the pier, J.L.King is talking to his faithful worker, the man who has lurked around corners stalking Bo's downfall for weeks.

Bo's ripe for working with us boss, the lurking man advises.  He's lost his wife, his boat and has been demoted.  He needs some money - fast.  We'll see if we can trust him, J.L.King decides.  Set him up now.

Set up 2

FrUnco and Hope, out to lobby for a new modelling assignment over dinner, are surprised when the client asks to see them "move together".  As Kate observes with interest from a nearby table, Hope and FrUnco sway to the music as Bo and Billieboob arrive for dinner.

Spying Bo, FrUnco reaches for Hope, kissing her passionately much to her surprise.

Devastated, Bo leaves.  Suddenly he's no longer hungry.

Hypnosis

Loony Laura, demonstrating a rare moment of rationality, appeals to Marlena.  I did see Stefano in the hallway, he states firmly.  I insist you hypnotise me - if what I saw was true, then the rest of my sightings of Peter and Stefano are also true.  It means Jack will not have to spend the rest of his life in prison.

Okay, agrees Marlena.

You are getting sleepy, sleepy, you are asleep!

Reporting in

Stefano's found Kristen and fills her in on the night's happenings.  We're too close now for me to have everything I want! she roars at Stefano he nods in agreement.  If Laura remembers what happens, my secret will be out.  Has Nurse Lynn passed Laura her "forget me" pills yet?

I don't think she has had an opportunity!  Stefano tells Kristen.  Alright, Kristen says thinking.  I'd better get over there straight away and see what I can do.

I can see...

Quickly hypnotised, Loony Laura starts to remember.  I can see Peter, Peter and Stefano, they're both alive, she tells the dubious witnesses.  There's a woman there, I can't really make out who it is.  Yes, I can, the image is getting clearer now.  I'm getting a clearer picture.  The woman is....

Hello!

As Laura's about to remember this vital clue, the doorbell rings.  It's Kristen.  Is everything alright? she asks seeing the throng hanging in the loungeroom.  I came over to comfort Jennifer over today's verdict.

Glaring at the intruder, Marlena turns to her.  We were just hypnotising Laura.  She was just about to offer some vital memory recall, but you've derailed her train of thought!

I'm sorry, I didn't know offers Kristen looking guilty.

Let's continue, Marlena snarls grinding her teeth to dust as Kristen stares at Laura nervously.

Now Laura, think back.  You were about to identify someone, Marlena directs.

Susan's visitor

With everything seeming to divert from its original plan, Stefano thinks it best to check with Susan.  You are the vital link in all of this, he tells her.  Now go and get dressed as Kristen.  I want to see how you look.  The baby is due any time now, we don't want any mistakes.

Look at you! he screams as Susan re-enters.  You have too much make-up on! You look like a whore! Kristen is a lady.  You'll have to do better than this Susan!  Remember!  Keep to the plan, do you hear me?

Yes, agrees Susan humbled by the tycoon's wrath.  Yes, I do indeed hear you Mr DiMera Sir.

As Stefano leaves, Susan is wracked with pain.  Oh NO! she groans.  I'm in labour!

Staggering around her apartment she picks up her overnight bag, heading for the hallway.  Overcome by the pain, she collapses, as a neighbour discovers her and calls 911.

We're taking you to University Hospital ma'am, the cheerful paramedics say as they strap Susan to a trolley.

No I can't go there! Susan yells.  I've got to go to a private hospital!

Sorry, the paramedics tell her, University Hospital is our route.  That's where you're going.

Shock

On their way home from Chez Vous restaurant, FrUnco and Hope take a short cut via the pier, only to see the Fancy Face a pile of smoking ashes.

Oh my gosh, moans Hope tearfully.  Poor Bo will be devastated.  I must go to him.

Huf you forgodden Hop? FrUnco's broken English hits a new daytime low.  You wun Bo to gowout wiz Billieboob done yoo?  Well den led Bo turto Beelee.

You're right, sniffs Hope so very easily swayed.

Another interruption

As Laura is about to name the fuzzy woman in her pre-laser stripped memories, Kristen bites her lip nervously keen to create a diversion.

Jack? she says, as Laura again wakes before offering information. I need to tell you something.

Can't it wait? snaps Marlena irate that another opportunity to delve Laura's psyche has been stymied.

No I'm sorry it can't, Kristen says firmly.  Turning to Jack, Kristen looks contrite.  Jack I know I blamed you and I said some terrible things to you about Peter's death, but I want to tell you now that I know it was an accident, and I forgive you.

Oh Kristen what a lovely thing to say, Jennifer smiles as Jack nods and Marlena looks suspicious.

I'll make some tea! smiles Kristen seeing the light.  Placing the pills into Laura's cup as Nurse Lynn looks on satisfied she's pleased to see Laura take a sip.

Soon, Laura barely remembers her name embarking on a fresh case of distressed howls, as Marlena looks both thoughtful and constipated at this unexpected turn of events.

The Setup

The lurker, fresh from his discussion with J.L.King, is about to set Bo up.  Posing as a distressed down and out citizen, Bo's interest is peaked when he can relate to the stranger's misery.  I lost everything, the stranger tells him.  My life, my house, my job.  I thought I could win it all back in a poker game, but I lost all my money too.

That's when I did something I know I shouldn't do.  I stole the 'pot' for the poker game, and I ran.  Dropping the money on the ground, the lurker is transformed by Bo's words of wisdom.  You can't turn to a life of crime because your luck's out Bo admonishes, and the lurker nods his head, leaving the pier, and his money behind.

Licking his lips as he spies the greenbacks, Bo looks around.  Seems the coast is clear.  Picking up the wad of cash he places it in his pocket, looking around nervously as his cell phone rings.

It's Detective Plod.  Bo, we've seen a suspect run down to the pier.  He's stolen some money - have you seen anything?

Nope, lies Bo fingering the money.  I haven't seen a thing.

New Hope

Over the course of the night, Hope's done a complete 180 degree turn. No longer keen to push Bo into Billieboob's ample chest, she's now decided she's punished him enough.  I'm going to tell him Gran that I want to work it out, she grins, as Alice who manages to look permanently bemused these days, continues to look permanently bemused at this blockbuster news.

Bo's stopped by

Bo's stopped by to see Hope.  I want to discuss the possibility of us working on our relationship, Hope says frankly, as Bo's eyes glow.  Happy to work things out, Bo's interrupted by his cellphone ringing.

Get to the pier now! barks a commanding voice.

Who is this? he asks, as the line goes dead.

I've gotta go, he tells Hope who nods seriously, but I'll be back to discuss this soon.

Okay, smiles Hope offering Bo his first encouragement in weeks.

Meanwhile...

Meanwhile, the plans in disarray, Susan is wracked by labour pains.  I can't be in University Hospital! she squeals to the medical staff, who shake their heads.  Dr Roberts is on staff here at the hospital, the nurses tell her.  He'll be here soon.  Don't you worry.

Sister to sister...

Still amnesiac Scami has called Carrie into her hospital room, where she continues to make a rapid recovery.  Carrie, she appeals, we are so close, I'm just wondering if I confided to you.

I'm very worried about our marital relations.  I can't remember making love with Ausdumb at all, and I'm just wondering if I had confided in you how it was with us.

Overcoming the urge to vomit, Carrie swallows.  Um no, you didn't mention that part of your lives, she tells her half-sister, who looks glum.

Oh well, Scami brightens, I'm sure it was terrific.  I love Ausdumb so much, I'm sure we had a wonderful sex life.

Summoning

Bo's been summoned to the underground office of J.L. King.  Acknowledging him as the scum bag Abe was interrogating earlier in the day, Bo sneers, pouts and shows integrity, until J.L. King shows him a little videotape he made on the pier.  Bo, picking up the money, dropped by the lurker, and denying finding anything to his colleague.

J.L. has the upperhand on Bo, but Bo's resolute.  I'm not having anything to do with drugs, he snarls as J.L. looks bemused.

You need money, I can help.  That's the relationship we have, he tells Bo flatly.  I can tell your entire family about how you're now a bad cop.  No don't do that, Bo urges clearly out manoeuvred by the wily drug lord.

Calls to be made

As Susan continues to scream and moan in agony, the nurse promises to call John Black.

I must get onto Kristen, she moans, reaching for phone.

Calling Kristen's cell phone, Susan's unaware that Marlena has it in her handbag.  Kristen inadvertently had left it at Jennifer's house.  Hello? asks Marlena.  It's coming! screams Susan before dropping the phone.  Hello? Hello? enquires Marlena a frown creasing her brow.

Who would be calling Kristen so desperately? she ponders. And why?

Don't you worry, smiles the nurse as she comforts Susan.  Dr Roberts is on his way.

Last night

It's Jack's last night as a free man (still) and he makes a suggestion to Jennifer.  Do you think we could go dancing? he asks. Just one more time for the last time?

Slinking downstairs minutes later in a swishy black number, Jennifer and Jack take off without a thought for manic Laura who just minutes earlier was suffering a bout of terminal dilemma.

As they swing around the dance floor, their favourite song plays.  I can't! sobs Jennifer rubbing furiously at her eyes.

Sharing the news...

With contractions ebbing long enough, Susan places a call to Kristen.  I'm in labour at University Hospital, she tells Kristen who groans.  Can't you do anything right? she snaps.  Okay, I'll be over as soon as I can to get you out of there.  Hang tight until I get there.

As John returns to the room, Kristen has a special request.  I feel hungry, she tells him.  Would you get me some Chinese food?  Oh and some of that special icecream.  That's clear across town! John remarks astounded.  Are you sure?

Yep! smiles Kristen.

I'm surprised you didn't ask for a pickle! grins John putting on his jacket.  That too! smiles Kristen.  Get me a big huge pickle too!

Okay, agrees John.  I'll be back as soon as I can.

Checking up..

Hope's keen to discuss her change of mind with Bo, but he's been gone a long time.  Calling the station, she finds he's not there.  No, I won't leave a message, she says disappointed her slinky black dress and romantic table complete with wine is going to waste.

The truth revealed

We knew Bo couldn't, wouldn't be a baddie.  No this is a set-up Salem PD style.  Commander Amiable Abe is proud of his detective.  The way we set you up to be down and out, lose your boat, your job, turn to drink - it's worked out perfectly! grins Abe enthusiastically.

Yeah, agrees Bo, starting to frown.  Would like to know who set fire to the boat though - that wasn't part of the plan.  Mmm, agrees Abe looking thoughtful.  Anyway, now you're on the inside, you've got to get J.L.King to trust you.

That means keeping up the pretence for as long as it lasts.

Okay! agrees Bo, but I got to go see Hope now.

No Bo! Abe looks sad.  Hope's life would be in danger if J.L. thought you were back with your wife.  She must be left out of this.  You can't tell her anything.

Frowning, Bo's mouth flaps up and down in distress.

News

Hearing that Kristen is in labour, Marlena's surprised to find John is absent.  Placing a call to him in the car, John's shocked.  But she just sent me to get Chinese food! he pipes.  Well forget it! she's in labour at University Hospital - better get over here soon! Marlena hums cheerfully as a hooded and bespectacled Kristen hovers unseen in the background.

What are you doing here? Kristen spits as Susan grimaces.  I can't help it Kristen, Susan groans.

Well we're just going to have to get you out of here! commands Kristen finding a nurse's outfit.  I'll go get you a wheelchair.  I don't think so Kristen, Susan huffs.  I don't think you'll be able to do that.

A nasty find

As Hope waits for Bo, she reaches for Shawn D's jacket.  Rifling through the pockets, she disturbed to pull out a roughly wrapped cigarette.  This is a joint! she states quite insightfully, and a frown creases her forehead.

Speaking with Shawn D outside later, she hears the story.  Seems ShawnD's friend is into pot.  They can all get it easily at school.  The virtuous ShawnD reminds pushers that his mom and dad are cops, and that's kept them away to date.  I'm proud of you ShawnD, Hope tells him.

Listening from the bushes, Bo looks worried.  He knows what he must do now.  He must sacrifice his happiness for the community, and for the world afflicted by the unscrupulous drug lords who prey on children. Placing on his nobility hat, Bo feels comfortable.  He was born to be a hero.

What?

As Marlena waits outside listening to Susan's anguished childbirth wails, who should join her than her permanently demented friend Loony Laura, now curiously lucid after her mind bending night, dressed, fresh and apparently catching up on her backlog of paperwork since her descent into madness.

How wonderful! she gushes when she hears of Kristen being in labour. As soon as the baby is born, you'll be able to tell John everything and then you can have a life together.

You're right, smiles Marlena gleefully.  I've waited so long for this day.

Right on cue, the man of the moment appears.  I'm going in to see Kristen now.  I'm so happy! he squeals as Marlena's eyes fill with love for the sensitive he-man of her dreams.

John & Susan

Walking into Susan's room where Kristen is busying herself in the corner inconspicuously, John is thrilled.  This day is finally here Kristen! he grins as Susan nods.  Soon our son will be born.

Helping Susan through a contraction, he makes a decision.  I'll be back soon, he promises.

Oh Kristen, smiles Susan dreamily.  Now I know why you love him so much, he's such a dreamboat isn't he?

Well you've nearly managed to ruin everything for me! snarls Kristen angrily.  One thing - just one lousy thing - get to the right hospital and you can't even do that right!

Happy snaps

Adjourning to Marlena's office for a cup of tea, Marlena shares her book of happy snaps.  I can't wait for us to be a family again, she sighs.  Discussing Kristen, Marlena frowns.  She wasn't like that when John first fell in love with her, she tells Laura.  As soon as she saw the letter of love that John wrote from the prison cell to me, then she changed, and let Stefano's influence overtake her.

Well, it will all be over soon, Laura grins.

What?

Seeking out Bo to relate the story of ShawnD's joint, Hope appeals to Bo.  Something has to be done to clear the world of the drug lords! she tells him.  I'll work with you on the case Bo, just like like old times!

Er, um, says Bo staring uncomfortably at his shoes.  I've, that is, I've decided you were right.  That I should explore my feelings for Billieboob before we make any decisions.

Her face falling, Hope's world crumbles.  Of course, she agrees mustering her dignity and walking away.  Yes, of course.

Dying

Her body wracked with pain, Susan is shocked to see John return with a priest in tow.  Am I dying? she asks.

No, grins John.  But I am.  I am dying to honour my promise to you that we will be married before the baby is born.  Shocked, Kristen the nurse glances at him panicked.  We're going to get married Kristen, John the clueless spouts happily.

Will John and Susan tie the knot while Kristen watches?
