FrUnco's
been caught red-handed hovering over Black-Eyed Jill's hospital bed, as
Detective Bo "Clueless" Brady enters the room fuming, thrusting FrUnco
into a corner and pulling on his lapels. What are you doing here? snarls
Bo, as Hope protests and curiously FrUnco grins. I heard a noise and I was
checking on Jill, but it appears she's still asleep, offers FrUnco who can
hardly contain himself from laughing.
Bo,
however is unable to see the humour in the situation, barking at the hapless
police guard who belatedly enters the room. Where the heck were you?
growls Bo. I was asked to answer the security alarm, gulps the guard as Bo
sighs shaking his long locks. And, was there any danger? he enquires
frostily.
No, it was a false alarm nods the cop as light starts to filter into the grey
matter. That's right, nods Bo angrily. Someone set you up - and I'll
bet it was my main suspect FrUnco. I'll discipline you later.
Jack is
obsessed with finding the missing Laura, and although Mickey frowns at his
former wife's absence, he's got more important issues to deal with. Like,
for instance, how to win his first ever legal case. You're in a great deal
of trouble Jack, Never-win Mickey tells him unnecessarily. 
Despite
searching in every room of Blake Manor, John, Marlena and Jennifer have come up
with nothing. Once outside, Jennifer spies a light on inside and back again they
troop. Nope nothing here, John states looking bleak. Inside the
secret room, Stefano glances at the ever-struggling Laura and his wan son
Peter. Ssshhh, he warns as Laura thumps the floor.
It's
Celeste walking around in the dark. I've had a terrible dream
darling. 
Marlena's
dismissive. How could you disturb Jennifer like this when she's so upset?
she challenges. But Jennifer's impressed. Celeste has been right
before. Tell me what you think, she asks.
Listening
behind the secret door, Stefano's profoundly disturbed. Unless someone
derails Celeste's train of thought soon, she may very well lead those Salemites
into the secret room.
As
Stefano, Peter and Laura hold their collective breath waiting for Celeste to
make the psychic connection, Marlena makes an observation. This house! she
pipes. 
Filling
her in on Celeste's visions, Kristen scoffs. I'm sorry, but this is
nonsense. Peter and Stefano are dead! Laura obviously can't be with
them. You've got that wrong.
Quietly,
Peter and Laura sit and listen.
What
exactly are you doing here Kristen? asks Marlena suspiciously. 
With
all the chatter, Celeste is distracted. I just can't get the vibrations
back with all this noise, she complains. Darnit! it's gone now, I can't get it back. Maybe I'll give it some
thought when I get home.
As the
group start to leave, Marlena hangs back. I don't believe you're here for
the reasons you said, she challenges. Well what do you want me to say
Marlena? laughs Kristen. Careful, you'll be turning as nutty as Celeste
soon if you keep this up.
Now
free to move around, Laura turns to Peter. Please Peter, she begs.
You can hear how devastated Jennifer is. Please don't let Stefano take her
mother away from her too!
Laura's continuous nagging is finally
starting to irritate Peter as much as me. Pleeeeease Peter, begs
Laura. Just let me go, stand up to Stefano. Tell him to set me free,
to go back to Jennifer. I won't tell anyone what I know, and I have some
swamp land to sell you too.....
It's filler time. Bo's taking one of his rare days
off policing duties and comes to appeal to Hope to decorate the church.
Maybe, Hope replies crisply letting poor old Mr Indecisive dangle on the cord of
love and despair a bit longer.
Jennifer is miserable. She
doesn't know where her mother has disappeared to, but Jack's hopeful. He
tells her that while she was sleeping, he and Dr All Purpose Mike have stuck
flyers up all over town. Not to mention that John, Kristen and Marlena
have provided significant reward monies should someone have information. 
Jack and Jennifer have taken Abbey
to visit Santa. I really hope it is a time of miracles, whispers Jennifer
tearfully.
Kristen has agreed to meet with
Celeste in the Salem Mall. I tell you Kristen, you have the power to stop
this terrible danger about to befall Laura. I don't know what you can do,
it's not clear, but clearly you have to do something.
Ho Ho Ho, Santa chortles in his
best Shakespearian tone. What can I get you little girl? I wanna
doll and I want grandma to come back, little Abbey pouts. Don't worry
Abbey, grins Jack overhearing, she'll be back before Christmas - we promise!
A stranger is staring sadly at Laura's flyer when she bumps into Jack and Jennifer. I know what the family is
going through, she remarks. My mother disappeared 3 months ago, and
despite an intensive search, we never found her. After a while the leads
turned cold. 
That's my mother who's missing,
Jennifer remarks sadly as they play tag-team sympathy. Swapping pictures
of their disappeared mothers, the other woman turns to leave. Here's my
card, she offers. If you need any assistance, give me a call.
Touching the woman on the
shoulder, Jennifer is disappointed to see a befuddled stranger. Are you my
daughter? the woman asks. No, sniffs Jennifer tearfully. No I'm not.
Walking back to Jack, Jennifer's
eyes squint as a random thought passes her grey matter. I wonder, she
mutters. Jack - you stay here, I'll be back in a moment! she promises as
she skedaddles to parts unknown.
It must be Christmas. Bo's
wearing a silly hat as he decorates the church with a little hearty help from
Shawn, to be sure, to be sure.
Muttering to herself in the
street, Celeste is worried. If something is not done soon, Laura will be
in very grave danger indeed, she says to no one in particular, drawing not one
strange glance from the people of Salem.
Finally Peter's succumbed.
Alright, he agrees sitting up painfully. I'll let you go, but you're a
truthful woman so I expect you to tell me the truth alright? Yes, Laura
agrees, anything.
But Stefano takes over as he
walks into the room. Peter is right, I'll let you go right now. The
only condition is that no-one, but no-one can know that Peter is alive. 
Just forget about Jack! explodes
Peter. Save yourself. Please Laura. 
Don't even begin to tell me! she
roars. I don't want to know. Help me get the cuffs off her and we'll
get her back to Jennifer. This is ridiculous. Fumbling with the ties
uselessly, Kristen glares angrily at Stefano. You've gone too far now! she
tells him. Enough is enough. Let her go!
Krissy? comes a voice from
behind her. She knows about me. Turning, Kristen spies Peter.
Peter? she whispers incredulously as he raises an embarrassed smile.
Instantly Kristen faints into
Stefano's arms.
Jennifer's hunch was
right. The disoriented woman at the soup kitchen, was none other than the
stranger's missing mother. I don't know how to thank you, the young women
sniffs.
Santa's about to turn on the
Salem Christmas tree lights - a job normally bestowed upon Alice.
As Kristen comes to, she spies
Peter and Laura again. Oh Peter, she sobs. Why didn't you tell me
you were alive? I thought I was going to die of grief. Why didn't
you tell me?
Embracing her brother, she's
full of plans. Jennifer is going to be so happy. I'll bring back you
and her mother. You'll be back together again and everything will be
wonderful.
I'm afraid that doesn't fit in
with my plans, tones Stefano. Yeah? and what plans are those? Kristen says
sounding bored. 
Kristen still can't get over Peter's breathing status.
Everything will be alright now, I just know it! she beams.
Kristen wallops Stefano across the chops.
Stefano's unimpressed. Don't you ever EVER touch me in anger
again, he threatens. 
While Peter whistles quietly in the corner keeping a low profile,
Kristen continues her tirade unabated. How could you do this to
Laura? There's no way I'm going to let you get away with this
Stefano. I know what it's like to lose a mother. I'm not
going to let Jennifer go through the same torment I went through.
Although Laura doesn't have much choice in the matter,
seeing things are looking up, she wisely keeps her grunts and moans to a
minimum.
Celeste? enquires Caroline walking by Salem Place.
Are you alright? I feel a vibration about Laura, mutters Celeste
mysteriously. She is not alone. I feel she could be in great
danger.
Perhaps you will not feel the same about Laura, once you know the truth,
Stefano offers. Laura knows the truth about your pregnancy.
You want her telling everyone? Telling John?
Ausdumb has an idea. They'll be taking Will to see Santa at Salem
Mall! That's a great idea! smiles Scami happily. I'll go get
my coat. No, Ausdumb tells her patiently. When I say US I
mean Carrie, Will and me. I don't know how many times I have to
tell you this Scami.
With Kristen absent, John's chosen the second woman of his
harem to
accompany him to Salem Mall for the Santa visit. Belle and Brady are so
happy. Please God, prays Marlena, please allow John and I to be
together tonight without Kristen.
Come on Laura, tell Kristen what you know, Stefano tones. Well, ventures
Laura softly. I
saw you adjust the pillow under your skirt at Peter's funeral, and I
know you're not pregnant. And I know that there's a double who's
masquerading as you for the doctor's appointments. Marlena was my
confidant, she is very close to knowing the truth anyway.
Happy holidays. John's bought a silly hat for Doc too, finding it
hard to jam it over all that hair. Isn't that hilarious?
Susan's got a bit of extra money this year courtesy of a mad and portly
tycoon who shall remain nameless, and
she's ventured into Salem Mall where special event couple, Maggie and
Never Win Mickey are collecting money for charity. There you go,
smiles Maggie, here's a bauble for you to hang on our tree.
As Marlena watches Belle and Brady on Santa's knee, she gets all squishy
inside. Get mom and dad up here to have their pictures taken too, offer
the friendly green elves.
Okay! Marlena and John agree as they step up to the
podium. 
Why Kate has worked fast. Carrie's apartment has been completely
decorated with Christmas lights and there, big and bold in the centre is
Santa himself. HO HO HO, the big guy chuckles.
You won this time Kate, whispers Scami
viciously. But don't forget what I know about you. I'm going
to use it when the time is right.
What do you think we should do Peter? Kristen sighs. I don't know,
her brother groans as
Laura holds her breath. I feel I've pretty much lost Jennifer
anyway. You've got just as much to lose as me Krissy.
I don't see any other way around it Peter. We have
to let Laura go and let the chips fall where they may. This is
wrong! 
Looking mistily at the photo of the Santa's head smooch, John looks
pensive. I want you to have this Doc, he smiles, trademark eyebrow
doing the tango. Thank you I'll treasure it, smiles Marlena
wanting to gobble him up.
Seeing the children so happy at Salem Mall has helped Sexy Lexie make a
momentus decision. I want to start a family Amiable Abe, she
grins. I don't care about the DiMera genes, Stefano's dead and
can't hurt me now.
Caroline is pleased with Celeste's instantaneous turnaround in
mood. Yes darling, smiles Celeste. I think Laura's fortunes
are turning around. I feel that someone who is with her is on her
side. 
Stefano's livid with the previously evil siblings' decision
to release Laura and let fate intervene. I'm not
going to lose everything I've worked for, because you two have bleeding
hearts! he roars as he storms out the room. Quick! Kristen tells
Peter, where will I find the keys to set her free? We must act
quickly.
John's spied some gloves in a shop window that the
extraordinarily wealthy Kristen has wanted but never bought. Too
bad, that's the last pair and they've just been bought by that funny
looking woman with the southern accent. Excuse me, John
says. I wonder if I may have a word with you - I'd like to buy
those gloves off you.
Spellbound, Kristen and Peter stare in awe of Stefano - and more
importantly what he's holding. 
John's managed to catch up with Susan Banks and made his
pitch for the one and only pair of gloves in Salem. Agreeing to
sell them to him, she falls in love with his caring attitude.
Haven't I seen you before? asks John, his eyebrow raising
up past his silly hat.
Stefano's a man who usually doesn't like providing
explanations. Kristen's appalled at the look of the apparatus that
Stefano is waving around that will solve the issue of Laura's memory
over recent days.
It is perfectly safe and foolproof, he promises. My
private surgeon has had wonderful success with it. There are no
side effects and no signs that she will have even had the
procedure. She will simply awaken and forget everything about the
last few days including Peter and me being alive, you not being pregnant
and me. 
Unable to keep her silence any longer, Laura
explodes. Are you mad? she screams. Do you know what he's
proposing? This is brain surgery! It's dangerous! I could end up a
vegetable!
Scami's desperate to stop Ausdumb leaving with AiryCarrie
for six months, and she takes her half-sister aside. Is this more
about you wanting to keep Ausdumb away from me? Or more about your love
for Ausdumb? Because it seems to me that you are desperate to keep
Ausdumb away from his family, and you're being selfish.
Before Susan can respond to John's question, she's gripped
by a baby kick. Going gooey, he moans.
Peter and Kristen continue to look concerned, as Stefano
explains what they have to lose. All we need to do is remove
Laura's memory of the past few days. She can then go back to be
with her daughter, and what she knows about your secrets will not see
the light of day. 
Please, begs Laura howling. Please don't let them do
this to me. I could turn into a vegetable...please......
Are you sure it won't hurt her? asks Kristen swayed by the
possibilities. I promise, agrees Stefano smiling fit to burst.
Never feeling close to Celeste since her drugging at
Maison Blanche, Marlena is startled to find herself conducting a
civilised conversation with her. Maybe the reason you have these
thoughts of Stefano is because you were with him so long, Marlena
offers.
Despite Carrie's denials, Scami's assertions are starting
to work there way through Carrie's grey matter. Look at Ausdumb
play with Will, whispers Scami. Look how happy they are. Do
you really want Ausdumb to spend 6 months away from his son Carrie?
Balancing her need for discretion against Laura's need for
non-elective brain surgery, Kristen makes a decision. I'm sorry
Laura, she whispers. It's for the best, really. And you can
go back home this way and everything will be fine. You'll see.
No, moans Laura as Dr No-Name enters the room, raising the hypodermic
to relax his subject. Dear God I hope she'll be alright, whispers
Kristen to Peter.
Thinking too closely about her vibrations, Celeste bumps into Susan
Banks, spilling her Christmas shopping over the pavement. As
Celeste touches the other woman's fingers, she is jolted. You know
Kristen DiMera! she says surprised.
Laura's mercifully unconscious as the operation begins in
this less than sterile environment. Placing two bandaids on her forehead
along with the obligatory electronic modules, Laura's set for some
hi-tech brain reshaping with a gaslighter.
Detective "Clueless" Bo Brady is waiting
anxiously outside Black-Eyed Jill's hospital room, when Hope
arrives. I just have a feeling, she states, that Jill will wake up
tonight.
Marlena's told John that Celeste believes Kristen has gone
to Blake Manor. As they speed their way there, John continues to
speculate. Why would she be going there again? he says looking
perturbed. 
How a surgeon can perform brain surgery in the dark is a
mystery, but here he is equipped for brain surgery - suit and tie,
gaslighter, no mask. How is it going? asks Kristen anxiously as she and
Peter take turns at nailbiting. 
It's the Titan ball, and FrUnco has sidled up to Billieboob who's
nursing a drink and looking pensive. I know what you're thinking,
says newly psychic FrUnco. You're thinking that if Black Eyed Jill
regains consciousness, your chances of getting Bo back will
disappear. I'm okay with that, Billieboob tells him
virtuously. Hope is my friend. 
Kate continues where FrUnco leaves off. You must go
and tell Bo how you feel about him! Kate tells her daughter
firmly. I know you are friends with Hope, but she's unhappy - she
knows Bo still has feelings for you. Do you really think that by
keeping silent you are doing Hope a favour?
Perhaps you're right, agrees Billieboob. 
As Kristen and Peter wait nervously outside, they are both
startled when the light dips and surges. Is Laura alright? Kristen asks.
A nurse is alerted when Black Eyed Jill groans.
Doctor! the nurse calls. I think Jill is waking up!
What has gone wrong over the past year? Kristen laments. Last
year John and I were happy. There were no lies, everything was
wonderful. The same with you and Jennifer. But then Tony
committed suicide and blamed John and I was ready to believe that.... I
still know John wonders how I could have doubted him. I can
remember as clear as bell, Marlena sitting there on the stand saying how
John could never do such a thing - right after I said I thought he
could. That was the beginning. That's why he still has
feelings for Marlena!
Marlena and John have entered Blake Manor, and John gets a
chill. With the house being an exact replica of the house in
Aremid, he has many memories. He remembers writing the letter to Doc. 
Dear Marlena,
As John mistily remembers his words, Marlena looks at him
meaningfully. She remembers reading them too, and is desperate to
tell him she feels the same.
Bo's been summoned. Jill it's Bo. Can you talk to me?
The power dips again, and Stefano shakes his head. All is going
well so far, the suited surgeon reveals.
John's got a special surprise at home in store for Kristen.
He's going to get it ready now, so perhaps Kristen can drive Marlena
home? Sure, Kristen raises a watery smile.
John's organised a special surprise. He was going to wait until
Christmas, but wants to give it to Kristen now. A beautiful
antique baby cradle. I love it, whispers Kristen tearfully as
Marlena watches menacingly from the corner.
Next Christmas, she vows silently. John and I will
be celebrating OUR Christmas with OUR child. 
Stefano's addressing Peter. The surgery is over and
Laura will wake up soon. In the meantime, they are leaving
Salem. How will we know what she can or can't remember? asks
Peter.
Jill's woken sufficiently for Bo to communicate. If
I did a line up, Bo asks her, could you identify the man who hurt you?
