Kristen's
feeling supremely smug. Having successfully pulled the old
"blood test swindle" thanks to the timely appearance at
the hospital by Susan, no one appears suspicious - least of all
John, who seems to have undergone a lateral thinking bypass of
recent times. Let's get going! urges Kristen happily.
Let's go where the rest of Salem are congregating - The Salem Club.
Finding
no appropriate place in the hospital to change her clothes, Susan
too has found the Salem Club. As she shrugs off her Kristen
persona to reveal her drab self, she's startled when there's a rap
at the door of the rest room. Kristen?
Vivian's voice calls sharply. It's Vivian Alamein. We
need to talk!
Meanwhile at the Salem Club, Bo's continuing to drown
his sorrows - a fact not lost on Commander Amiable Abe Carver, who
has been nagging his subordinate officer all night. As Bo
staggers angrily to his feet, he strikes a lucky blow, knocking the
formerly Amiable Abe
to the floor as onlookers gasp. That's it! Abe roars. You're off the drugs case, and if
you're not careful, you'll be off the force too.
Hearing the ruckus
from the Club area, Vivian is distracted, leaving the rest room with Ivan to
observe Bo and Abe's "discussion". Relishing the opportunity
of a solid fist fight, Vivian is startled to see a young, drably dressed
Southern woman standing beside her. What's going on? asks Susan
curiously. Eyeing her
strangely, Vivian fills her in, frowning as her eye falls to the bandaid on
her arm and the coat she dons as she walks away.
Vivian's
suspicions are further aroused when turning, she sees Kristen enter the
Salem Club with John. How did you do that? she asks Kristen who stares
at her blankly. I just saw you go into the ladies restroom. Worried, Kristen
bites her lip. What is Susan doing now? she asks herself, while she
smiles brightly and denies knowing what Vivian is talking about.
A
stranger too is watching and smirking. A stranger who seems very
interested in the quick downfall of Detective Bo "Clueless" Brady.
John's
come flying through the melee, wallet bursting at the seams.
I'll pick up the costs for this damage, he assures the annoyed owner
manfully. Just call my secretary tomorrow.
You
wanna make me? Bo slurs aggressively. I'll take this outside with you!
he offers. Rolling his eyes, John agrees. Sure - you wanna hit
every friend you've got in the world? Sure. Let's go.
Sidling to
Kristen's table, Vivian appeals for her assistance. We both
have things in common - Stefano for instance. I'm sure you
understand how important it is for me to have your vote at the Titan
Board meeting. I've told you already Vivian, Kristen fumes.
I'm not going against John's vote and that's that.
Mmm, frowns Vivian as Kristen flounces
from the table.
As Billie and John try vainly to talk some sense into
Bo outside the Salem Club, our lurking stranger continues to er,
lurk.
We're
going to stick by you, Alice nods stubbornly as Jack explains his
position. I have to plead guilty, he says convincingly. I can't
have the Horton name dragged through the mud. Better I plead guilty
and save you all the shame. You're the only real family I've ever known.
As
the Hortons' see the sense of such a plan, Jennifer looks towards Never-Win
Mickey. How long would he get? she asks. Well, sighs Mickey,
with me as his lawyer and a trial, he'd get the death penalty, however if he
saves us all the time, first offence, lesser charge, good behaviour - he
could be out in 3 years.
Hello? asks Susan now at home. Where have you been? snarls Kristen. Somebody saw you
at the Salem Club! We can't let anything stop us now.
We're too close. Go out, get the food you need, and get back
home and don't go out again until the baby is born!
After
the Hortons' have left, Jack changes his mind again due in part to
Jennifer's relentless nagging. Okay, he agrees. I'll fight. As
Jennifer embraces him...
...Laura
returns from her night-time stroll with Nurse Lynn, and smiles.
With
Never-Win Mickey now no longer able to suffer an unbearable defeat for his
client Jack Devereaux, he decides to sniff around the hospital for more
work. Talking with Carrie, he paints a depressing picture for her and
Ausdumb's future. If Scami doesn't regain her memory, then she won't
be in "her right mind". If she isn't in her "right
mind" she won't be able to sign the annulment papers. I'm afraid
this could be a very long, drawn out and tedious affair.
Sick
of lectures from worried Salemites, Bo has staggered into the Cheatin' Heart
where he picks immediately on a bad guy. Bad Guy has just come from a
stint in prison - courtesy of Detective Clueless, and is thrilled when Bo
wants to bump chests in an act of macho madness. Let's play pool!
grins Bo throwing money into the ring. Let's make it
interesting. 
Billieboob's been looking for her former lover since
the ruckus at the Salem Club. Bo, she urges, don't drink any
more. Those guys are trying to hustle you. They want
your reflexes impaired by the drink. Don't you worry, slurps
Bo. I've got all my fac, er fac. er, all my wits about me.
Heading
towards Heaven one day, Scami's being escorted in her wheelchair the
next. It's so wonderful to have you as a sister, she cloyingly
whispers to Carrie, who smiles encouragingly back, while she wonders just how
long the writers can drag out the amnesia plot to keep her and Ausdumb apart.
Bo's
been spectacularly unsuccessful at the pool table, and his money has
gone. Let's make it double or nothing, he hiccups. What have you
got of value? asks Bad Guy. 
Carrie
calls Hope in Santa Rosa from the Cheatin' Heart. It's Bo, Carrie
tells her Aunt. He's out of control. I'm afraid he just lost the
FancyFace in a pool game.
Lurking and
listening, FrUnco places a frown of concern on his dial as he hears Hope
packing her suitcase. Hope cannot go back to Salem now, he
murmurs. It will ruin everything. Walking inside, he
appeals to her. If you go back now, what will be resolved? You
will still think he has feelings for Billieboob and suffer those same
feelings of doubt. Remember why you
came here - it was for Billeboob and Bo a chance to resolve their feelings. You're right, Hope
agrees, providing FrUnco with his first win of the day.
John's
as happy as can be and so darn in love, that it would probably be a good
time for Kristen to place her newest request. Honey? I think we should
send Marlena home, she smiles. After all, she needs to spend more time
with Belle, and she was there to look after me - but I'm fine and the baby
will be born soon.
Vivian's
curiosity has the better of her. Why was Kristen so nervous at the
Salem Club last night? she mutters. More importantly, the ever-observant Vivian has
seen that Kristen and the drab woman both wore the same coat and had
identical bandaids on their arm. The hospital records - that's the
place to start. If they both had blood tests on the same day, the
records should be here.
While
it's daytime in the rest of Salem, it still appears to be night in Bo
land. As Shawn D comes out to view the wrecked human being standing
before him, Bo has some explaining to do.
Still night too, at the Cheatin' Heart, where
Billieboob strides in, waving an envelope to Bad Guy who continues
to celebrate his win. I want
to buy Bo's boat off you, she tells him. There's a lot more in
there than the boat is worth.
It's daylight once again, and Kristen's shocked and
annoyed to see Susan outside. Didn't I tell you to get some
groceries and stay in your apartment until the baby was born?
reminds Kristen.
Vivian
knows something is up with Kristen. It's just a matter of finding out
what.
Kate
has run into Kristen and John lobbying their support for the Titan board
meeting. You've got my vote, he agrees. Even though Vivian is my
aunt, what she has done and the lengths she has gone to to keep Victor are
appalling.
Well warns Kate, Vivian will stop at nothing to get what she
wants. If either of you have any secrets she is not above
blackmail. So make sure any secrets you have remain buried.
Hard to believe but it appears to be night again, and
disreputable Bo has dragged himself back to the Cheatin Heart in
time to hear Bad Guy leering after Billieboob's body. Causing
yet another bar-room brawl, Bad Guy hurls insults from afar.
Calling from Santa Rosa, Hope
calls Bo's cellphone. Picking it up, Billieboob whispers hello, as
Hope falls silent. Holding the phone out to Bo as he trades nasty
jibes with Bad Guy, Hope is startled when she realises that Bo is fighting
for Billeboob's honour.
Lobbying
for support, Vivian approaches John and Kristen. My
favourite nephew! she beams. But John is short
on small talk today. I'm sorry but I told you yesterday. I won't
be voting for you at the Titan Board meeting. That's my final word.
Vivian's
called to Susan's apartment masquerading as a Census taker. I need
details about you, how many people are living there, how many rooms your
apartment has, your name. I'm sorry, frowns Susan closing the
door. I'm not supposed to talk to anybody.
Turning
to Ivan, Vivian's convinced. There is most certainly something going
on. We need to search that apartment.
Scami's
quite happy until she sees the date on a magazine. 1997! she
shrieks. It can't be! It's 1993, what's happening?
Kate's
unconvinced that Scami does have amnesia. Has anyone thought that
Scami might be faking it? she asks as Marlena purses her lips angrily at her
friend's outrageous suggestion.
But
Ausdumb has a thought. Why don't we bring Will in to show her?
If she's faking it, she won't be able to fake her love for him. Alright,
agrees Marlena sniffing, you can take Will in.
As
Ausdumb carries the mute Will to the bedside, Scami looks at the baby
smiling. What a cute baby! she grins. Who's child is he?
Should I know him? Is he your baby Carrie?
Quickly
the family whisk the kid away. Who is he? Scami wails. Why won't
someone take him to his mother? Why did you bring him into me? Is he
someone I know?
As
the family sneak out the room, Scami calls Carrie back. I love you
Carrie, she smiles. You're the best sister in the whole wide world!
Why
can't I remember? asks Scami as she sits alone in her hospital bed.
Who was that little boy? Why did they bring him to me?
Suddenly
she gets a flash. It's a boy! the nurse tells Scami and Ausdumb grins
beside her.
Cradling
the baby. Ausdumb would be so proud of you! she smiles.
The
wedding.
As
Ausdumb and Carrie wait outside, they're alerted to Scami's screams. 
As
Kristen enters the apartment, she's talking. Susan has her back to
her. So what is it Susan? asks Kristen impatiently. Why did I
need to get here so quickly? Susan?
Turning
slowly, Vivian is revealed.
I know what you're up to Kristen, Vivian smiles.
To
Jennifer's delight, Jack has changed his mind. I've decided to fight
for you and Abby. I can't stand the thought of rotting in jail,
knowing that I didn't try my best to stay with you, he says.
Ausdumb and Carrie call All Purpose Dr Mike
Horton. Scami can remember! they enthuse as Mike rocks on his
heels stunned. Really?
Yes, but I still can't move my legs yet, Scami
laments. Better have a look - Mike says sagely. Could
everyone leave please?
As
Kristen listens nervously the sound of her own cellphone ringing in her
handbag, Vivian looks at her meaningfully.
Jennifer's
reading the Tattler. "Accused Killer and Ex To Wed" screams
the headline. How can they say this about us when it's not true? asks
a curiously naive Jennifer. I want to sue!
Frowning
Never-win Mickey considers the virtue of another potential case
failure. How would you prove it? There's no evidence!
Vivian's
starting to see the light. This woman is impersonating you for some
reason. But why?
She's
pregnant, you're pregnant. Or are you? Vivian thinks hard, the
possibilities coming to her. I see, you lost the baby in Paris didn't
you?
Scami's requested Will's return. I'm sorry I
forgot who you were, she sobs embracing him. But now I remember.
Ausdumb! she smiles we have a child! Agreeing silently, Ausdumb nods.
I can't remember our courtship, or your proposal, she
gushes, but I can remember our wedding and the birth of Will.
And Carrie! I can remember you were my bridesmaid! We are so
happy. 
It's true! Vivian whispers. You lost the baby in
Paris! But why didn't you tell John? Allow him to grieve with
you?
I
don't know what you're talking about Kristen snarls, but if you choose to
blackmail me, Stefano would make your life miserable. Ridiculous!
scoffs Vivian. Stefano's dead.
Grasping
Kristen's "pregnancy" she pulls it from the Kristen's dress.
Ah a bouncing baby pillow! she chuckles as Kristen looks murderously at her.
Dr
All Purpose Mike and Marlena have been consulting on Scami's case.
It's bad news for Carrie and Ausdumb. To help with her recovery, they
say, we want you Ausdumb to pretend that you and Scami are happily
married. Let her believe that you are a couple.
After
seeing the exposé in the Tattler Newspaper, Jack does what he knows to be
right. I'm going to plead guilty - once and for all, he stands firm.
Jack
can think of something.
As
Kristen prepares to leave Susan's apartment, Vivian leans forward to whisper
in her ear. All I need is your vote, and your secret stays safe.
You have so much to lose my dear. Just think about it.
