July 17

The Video

Scami stares longingly at the wedding video that she can't remember, but loves to look at.  We look so happy, she smiles wistfully. I just wish I could remember our courtship, and the happy times we had.  Fortunately for the viewers after the solid workout this video has had over recent months it should eventually turn to video dust.

Blackmail continued...

Despite Kristen's seeming lack of interest in Vivian's threat to reveal Kristen's non-pregnancy to John and Marlena unless she vote for her to remain on the Titan Board, Vivian knows she has the upper hand.  Outlining what will happen to Kristen when the truth is revealed, Kristen loses her temper.  SHUT YOU'RE BIG FAT MOUTH! she screams uncontrollably, as Vivian smiles in victory.   (Listen to Kristen scream at Vivian here. you'll need Real player - if the pix haven't finished loading, they'll stop and won't continue, so you may want to come back to this later - G)

Flouncing from the room, Kristen starts to panic.  I must get onto Stefano, she thinks.  Stefano will help me!

Faking?

Watching Ausdumb masquerade as Scami's happy hubby is causing Carrie grief.  I'm sorry, apologises Carrie, but Scami has done so many horrible things to Ausdumb and I, I just don't know whether she's deliberately selecting the things to remember.

Kate takes the opportunity to throw in her 2c too.  I agree, she whispers.  Scami has done some horrible things to a lot of people - I think she could be faking.

Marlena, who's seen Scami's brain scan disagrees.  She has had definite head trauma.  There's no doubt that her memory has been severely affected.

What All Purpose Dr Mike Horton and I have agreed on, is that the best way for Scami to recover is not to experience any more trauma.  I know it will be hard for you Carrie, but we would like Ausdumb to continue pretending that he and Scami are in love.

No way, uh huh, no way, tones Scami, crossing her arms and stamping her foot.

Just think about it, urges Marlena.

Later canoodling in bed with his love, Ausdumb thinks creatively.  I think it should be your choice Carrie.  You are the one who is going to be the most hurt by all of this.  There are a lot of different ways we can help Scami and pretending needn't just be the only one.  It's your decision.  Supremely happy in being able to side-step the issue, Ausdumb settles down comfortably, while Carrie's frown indicates she's struggling making a decision.

Worried...

Home from her encounter from Vivian, Kristen takes comfort in John's arms until the doorbell rings.  Raising an eyebrow, John looks at Kristen quizzically.  Who could that be so late? he asks as Kristen shrugs.  I'm get rid of them he smiles winningly as he makes for the door.

Hello John! smiles Vivian ingratiatingly.  As John looks confused, Kristen steps behind him to the door.  

Kristen! welcomes Vivian.  I'm here to talk to John about the baby.

I won't stay long!

July 18

Back in town

Looks like Lucas is back from his annual holidays!  Looking refreshed and hopeful that his storyline may indeed get some teeth this year, he smiles at Scami.  Scami I just heard about the accident!  I've been on business.  Are you alright?

I'm sorry, Scami stammers looking scared.  Do I know you?

Showdown #2

Sending John down to the DiMansion cellar to choose a bottle of brandy, Vivian turns to Kristen.

It will be so easy, she tells Kristen.  So easy to ruin your life.  But I don't want to do that!  I just want one little thing - your vote at the Titan Board meeting tomorrow.  You were left all of Tony's shares.

Before Kristen can answer, Marlena arrives with Kate in tow for a late night brandy.  What is SHE doing here, Kate's nostrils flare, as Marlena eyes widen looking from one to the other.

I'll be going now, Vivian says pleasantly, reserving her largest smile for Kristen.  Hope your baby continues to do well, she tones generously before sweeping out the door.

What was that all about? asks John in his normally confused state as Kristen shrugs and Marlena eyes her suspiciously.

Scami's status

Lucas thinks Scami's joking, until All Purpose Dr Mike Horton pulls him aside.  I'm afraid Scami's memory loss is genuine, he sighs, as Lucas squints taking it all in.  The family are playing along with what she remembers to not cause her any further trauma.

So, smiles Lucas seeing the light, Scami really thinks she's happily married to Ausdumb?  Yes, nods Dr Mike as he watches Lucas return to Scami's room.

It's wonderful to hear that you're recovering so well, Lucas grins broadly.  I want to say too, what a happy marriage that you have with Ausdumb.  He loves you so much.

That's very kind of you to say, Scami dimples.  I hope that if you were my friend before, you can be my friend again Lucas.  Do you know Carrie?  Yes I do, Lucas nods, and I like her very much.

So if you're Ausdumb's half brother, wouldn't it be terrific if you could get together with Carrie? Then we could have such fun times.

Yes, that would be terrific, grins Lucas barely able to contain himself as he revels in the potential possibilities of such a foursome.

July 19

The Trial

Jack's saying goodbye to Abby as he prepares for this trial before Judge Canbebribed. You be a good girl for your mommy, Jack smiles as Jennifer looks on tearfully.  After changing his mind hourly, Jack has come to the decision to plead guilty, throwing himself on the mercy of the court - thereby circumventing a media circus trial and possible acquittal.  He'll take his comeuppance like a man.

Vivian's request.

As John and Kristen prepare to attend the board meeting at Titan, Kate's on the phone with a request.  Seems Vivian has demanded an "oral" vote by all board members rather than sending in proxies.  Okay we'll be there soon, agrees John sighing.

First however, he answers a knock at the door. Here's the priest I've managed to secure who will marry us!  Father Goatee.  Can you marry us right now? asks Kristen eagerly seeing a way to flee with John on a honeymoon before the Titan vote.

Regrettably no, the Father Goatee smiles.  I've just got the paperwork here for you to sign.

Signed and sealed, the priest is on his way with the marriage papers and there's nothing left to do but vote.

There's a few things I want to do, states Kristen biding her time in hope of a call from Stefano.  I'll be there soon.

The Trial

Special Event Maggie is first seen as she takes her seat beside Alice who looks curiously bemused at the proceedings.

Never-win Mickey's confident though.  We've got a strong, tight case, you didn't mean to do it, you're showing remorse, and Fuming Peter Blake was a bad guy so deserved to die.  I think you might not even get jail time!  Judge Canbebribed is pretty lenient.  Things are looking good.

Cue smiles all round from the Hortons, including Laura who seems to have set aside her case of terminal confusion for the duration of the court case.

Hear ye, hear ye, the court case is in full swing.  Jack's made a tearful plea for leniency and Judge Canbebribed has retired to consider his verdict.

Things went swimmingly, Never-Win Mickey says confidently as the DA agrees.  You deserve one case now and then, she grins.

Oh oh.

As Judge Canbebribed enters his chambers, he's startled to see an individual sitting in his chair. Who are you? he demands.  Why are you here?  Get out immediately!

No, I don't think so, smiles Stefano DiMera shaking his head.  We, my good Judge, have things to discuss.

Decision

Scami's calling for Ausdumb, and the decision needs to be made.  As Marlena looks on expectantly, Ausdumb talks to Carrie.  You don't need to agree to this, he says.  There are other ways we can help Scami. 

No, sighs doormat Carrie, as they place a kick me sign on her back, pretend you're in love with Scami.  If that's the way to get her better again, then that's what we should do.

As Ausdumb lurches unhappily towards Scami's room, Carrie's face crumples.  What have I done? she wails.

The Vote

All the board members have placed their votes, and Vivian is getting nervous as Kristen hasn't appeared.  Look Vivian, John states, everyone has voted against you, you know that Kristen will vote with me, why are you holding out like this?

I'm waiting until Kristen arrives to do it legally and properly, Vivian tells them as Kate's nostrils flare and John raises an inquisitive eyebrow.

With no other way out and with Stefano busily bribing a judge, Kristen has appeared at the Geriatricakis mansion.

Well Kristen? You're vote? smiles Kate confidently.

Well, my vote is, Kristen stalls, my vote is, er, I vote for Vivian to stay.

As Kate gasps, and John's eyebrow tangos, Victor's face remains impassive.  What has Vivian got on Kristen, he asks himself internally, as Vivian triumphantly eyes Kristen, her place on the board sealed.

July 20

Discussions

Stefano's outlined his request to the Judge who is outraged.  Are you mad? This is an offence! he burbles falling silent as Stefano pushes an envelope onto the desk.  If this is evidence, you should have given it to the District Attorney, chides the judge as he opens the envelope.

His face turning ashen as he views the photographs, he glares at Stefano.  Who are you? Where did you get these? What do you want? he whispers.

Collapse

Victor's been thinking so hard of Vivian's coup that he's forgotten to breathe.  Quick! yells John where are his nurses?  They're upstairs, sobs Kate.  

Taking time out from helping Victor to breathe she turns to Kristen and Vivian.  I blame you both for this! she growls.

Step mom

While waiting for the Judge's decision, Laura takes Jack aside.  You know I've struggled with my feelings for you, she says surprisingly lucidly.  But, I hope that this verdict today can start a new life for you and Jennifer and Abby.

That means a lot to me, grimaces Jack.

The Wedding

With the wedding video finally watched to dust, Scami has a special request.  I can't remember it, so I want to go through the ceremony again. Mom? Carrie? would you hold my hand as I say my vows? Glancing at Ausdumb, Carrie raises a wan smile.  Sure, she agrees her heart breaking.  Begin Ausdumb, commands Scami.  

I Ausdumb, take you Scami as my wife, Ausdumb falters and then proceeds as Carrie looks on tearfully, and Marlena resists the temptation to mutter "oh my".

The Verdict

Judge Canbebribed has returned to his seat.  I sentence you Jack Devereaux to life in prison without parole for the murder of Fuming Peter Blake, he tones, before banging his gavel. 

Despite never winning a case yet, Never Win Mickey looks stunned.

You'll get a chance to appeal, he tells Mickey who starts to murmur his outrage.  Can't I get you to agree to a more lenient sentence? appeals Mickey miserably.

Looking down, Judge Canbebribed, peeks at the blackmail envelope in the file.  I'm afraid not, he shakes his head.  That is my final decision.

Well can he at least have the last night with his family and go to jail tomorrow? pleads Mickey hoping for a little something.

Yes agrees the judge.  He can have one more night with his family.  Case over and out.

Explanation

John wants an explanation of Kristen's vote, but Kristen pleads for time.  We'll talk about it tonight at home.  You go and be with Carrie, she is terribly upset right now.

Okay, agrees John breathing through his nose, but we will discuss this at home tonight.

Threats

As Vivian effusively thanks Kristen for her vote, her new enemy eyes her threateningly.  You will be sorry you have done this, she snarls.

I've heard your threats before about Stefano, Vivian smirks. He's dead and can't hurt me.  Maybe, considers Kristen, or maybe he just hasn't answered my call yet.  Time will tell Vivian.

Unhappy

Stefano is unhappy.  Judge Canbebribed did not fully follow his instructions.  How dare you give him a night with his family? thunders Stefano angrily.  My orders to you were to put him in jail today!

Look, appeals the judge.  This decision isn't right.  I've taken this man's life away - it was the least I could do.  In any case, it will all be turned over on appeal.

Perhaps not, sneers Stefano as he strides from the room.

Friend

Having witnessed the mock wedding at Scami's bedside, Lucas searches out Carrie.  We used to be friends Carrie, he says.  I'd like to be your friend again.  Reconsidering her initial action to brush him off, Carrie relents, turning instead to hug him.  

July 21

Poor Me

Detective Bo "Clueless" Brady's life is falling apart.  He's lost his job, his home, his wife.  Fortunately he's a founding member of his own Whine and Moan Club.  It will all work out, consoles Caroline, Hope is now back in Salem from Santa Rosa.  I'm sure you can work it out.

I don't know, grumbles Bo looking decidedly down and out, while the lurking stranger in the background, following Bo's downfall for some days now, continues to look and lurk.

Miss you

Jack and Jennifer can't believe it.  Life without parole, repeats Jack.  Who would've thunk it?

The interrogation

Marlena's heard about Kristen's incredible vote for Vivian.  Why did you do that? fumes John as Marlena looks concerned.  Getting nothing out of Kristen, John visits the kitchen.

Sidling up behind Kristen now that John is out of the room, Marlena appeals to her enemy's darker side.  Just what does Vivian have on you?  Is she blackmailing you? Is that it?

But John has overheard after all.  Tell us Kristen, we'll understand, he says generously.

Oooh owwww. Kristen moans doubling over.  Oh, the baby, I've got to lie down.

The Visitor

As Kristen enters her bedroom, she's startled to see Stefano comfortably ensconced in an easy chair.  Where have you been? she rants filling him in.

Don't you worry, Stefano frowns rubbing his chin in thought.  We will get over this small hiccup in our plans.

I can't give you anything but love baby....

Bo's raced over to Alice's upon hearing Hope has returned to Salem, but stops outside as he hears FrUnco's voice.

I vont to gif yoo dis special present, FrUnco smiles giving Hope a gift.

You are such a sweet man, Hope marvels, as FrUnco revels in her compliments and Bo's heart hits the floor.

I can't give Hope anything but love, he moans miserably.

Discussion

Asking to be alone with Hope, Bo looks at his fancy face mournfully.  I want you back, he moans.

Although I lost my job and our home, he mumbles, I still love you.  If you haven't had a date to rediscover your feelings for Billieboob, then there's nothing else to say, sneers Hope firmly, as Bo curls up looking forlorn.

The truth

Fresh from her discussion with Stefano, Kristen comes downstairs.  I want to apologise, she sobs.  I'm here to tell you the truth.  Interested, Marlena's ears prick up.  

I voted for Vivian because she's the only family we have now my mother and brother have died, she sobs.  

But Vivian is a despicable person! Marlena states.  That's a fact, tones John, we've never been close.

Well I think we should try, Kristen snorts.  For the baby.  I did it for our baby John!  It was a spur of the minute decision, I'd change it if I could.  I do apologise.

As John agrees to forgive her, Marlena scoffs in the background.  If that's the truth, she's got a bridge to sell.

Visiting

Stefano's entered Jennifer's house to chat with his latest employee Nurse Lynn who's drinking martinis and dancing in her room.

Are you keeping up the forgetme pill medication to Laura? he reminds her.  I most certainly am! agrees Nurse Lynn overawed by the pudgy tycoon's presence.  Excellent! smiles Stefano as he steps into the hall.  Things look like they are under control here.

No they're not!

Tossing and turning in bed, Laura is agitated.  She needs a sleepme pill.  I wonder if Lynn's still awake, she murmurs as she puts on her robe and enters the hallway.

Coming face to face with Stefano, she looks stunned.  You're alive! she gasps.
